America’s Declining Fortunes

Twenty-ten, the year that was; what a year it has been. But it ain’t over yet.

America continues its death spiral downward to the low echelons of the abyss firmly in the grip of a criminal interloper in White House and his mindless minions, both in and out of government. Forgive my melancholy, but I fear it is very much warranted.

As a people we are no longer being governed. No, we are being driven. Slaves are driven—cattle are driven, so too we are being driven. Tacit in that assertion is the thought, against our will.

The confirmation of Kagan yesterday (August 5th), I fear, makes the impending mid-term elections irrelevant. The American people are rightly enraged over the demolition of our Constitution in and accompanying destruction of our country.

Alas, methinks our protestations are too little, very much too late! If we had only started engaging during the regime of our “first black President,” Bill Clinton we might have been able to shut the radical fascists down before they forever damaged and irrevocably dismantled this once great country. But it was more important to be “tolerant” and politically correct, so we spoke not a word.

If the Founding Fathers erred it was in making Supreme Court Judges appointee’s of the ruling party and placed for life. They should be elected and have very stringent term limits. They also need to be somehow accountable when they choose to be activists, not jurists and opinion writers not Constitutional advocates and defenders, as their oath requires.

The unarguably socialist, Democrat party has vigilantly and unrelentingly been stacking the courts on all levels for decades. We the people let them. Of course to be completely exacting, weak-kneed Republicans have not just sat by and allowed this travesty, they abetted the process, ever encouraging the radical left in hopes of being accepted as part of the real ruling class (can you say John McCain or Lindsey Graham?).

In a brilliant, wide-ranging article Angelo M. Colevilla[1] sets forth a painfully frank and honest assessment of where America really is today and how we got here. He affirms my premises above:

Differences between Bushes, Clintons, and Obamas are of degree, not kind. Moreover, 2009-10 establishment Republicans sought only to modify the government’s agenda while showing eagerness to join the Democrats in new grand schemes, if only they were allowed to.

Yes we can thank W for Barack, without W’s unconscionable, RINO, no guts Presidency I believe we would not have Obama. And actually the term RINO, Republican In Name Only is meaningless. I mean in terms of true conservatism and per my hortatory above, the Republican party has been listing waay left for decades.

In the title of this blarticle, America’s Declining Fortunes, our “fortunes” are indeed the prosperity and wealth we have enjoyed, now slipping away forever. However, our declining fortune is also indicative of our destiny. No longer is America that shining city on a hill, so oft spoken of by Ronald Regan. We are on the slippery slope ending in the trash heap of history. Our children can thank us for that.

All this is a hard pill to swallow, but for those of us who know the veracity of the Bible know we are we are in the last days (Hebrews 1:1-2). There is no mention of America being a player as history winds down. If anything America as a nation may stand with the nations against God.

The good news is that for those of us who trust in Christ we are secure in His hand.
