My wife, Betty, wanted to see the Rockettes Christmas Show this year. So we piled into the car the day after Thanksgiving and took off for Durham. Boy, I haven’t been up in the Raleigh-Durham area for years.
We stayed about five blocks away from the Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC) and with the November weather fairly warm it was a pleasant walk from the hotel to DPAC–about ten minutes or so.
The whole program was good, but the March of the Wooden Soldiers was the best for me. As you will see at the climax all the soldiers are lined up facing to the audience right. A cannon has been brought out in front of the soldiers and set off–BOOM! The soldier that “fired” the cannon then blows on the first soldier and the line begins to collapse . . . in slow motion.
If you haven’t seen it before, note how hard the soldierettes are leaning into the oncoming collapse so the speed stays slomo.
Sorry about the camera work and glare. Enjoy the video, but it doesn’t do justice to the live performance, nevertheless I thought I would share it with you if you are interested.
The Christmas Season is here–Merry Christmas!
