Simon & Garfunkel-Prophetic?

simon-and-garfunkel-sound-of-silence-live-playbuttonSimon & Garfunkel wrote and performed some great music.  One of the greatest was Simon’s song The Sounds of Silence, written in 1964.515ladnqpfl-_sx309_bo1204203200_

I referenced this song in my book Before the Final Trump where I chronicled this:

The hauntingly beautiful and popular folk song The Sounds of Silence seems to embodied the mind set of many that grew up in the 60’s.  Those of us that grew up in that era were influenced by its music to varying degrees.  It was the era of rock and folk groups with surrealistic names like the Beatles, the Jefferson Airplane, The Mamas and the Papas, Strawberry Alarm Clock, Cream and others.

Paul Simon himself reportedly described this song as, “as a societal view of the lack of communication.”[1]  That assessment is even more accurate in our milieu.

For all the “information” transmitted and available today little substantive truth is communicated.  The main stream media who should be relaying “truth” to us, but spin stories illuminating their radical left, elitist agenda.

Note the dark images painted by Simon.  The darkness is my old friend—not light.  His “vision” is a creeping vision and what was this vision planted in Simon’s brain?  In his dream he walks down cold, dark, damp, narrow streets.  A flashing neon light hurts his eyes, yet there is nothing . . . nothing but silence.

Nevertheless he is not alone—nor is there any silence.  Simon’s lyrics go on to tell us there is no warmth, but the hard, piercing coldness as from a foggy night.  Then our “protagonist” sees a mob of 10,000 people—all talking at once, but saying nothing—which, as it turns out, is okay because no one is listening anyway!

The Simon tells us it is going to get worse [italics added] for he then penned these words: “‘Fools’, said I, ‘You do not know silence like a cancer grows.  Hear my words that I might teach you . . . But my words, like silent raindrops fell And echoed In the wells of silence.’”

So the “silence” is not silence, rather a lack of hearing.  The antithesis of Simon’s sound of silence is given to us in the Bible, “a wise man will hear and increase in learning, and a man of understanding will acquire wise counsel. . . .” (Proverbs. 1:5).

The Echoes of Simon’s Silence

Simon really was quite prophetic, possibly in a different way than he imagined.  The mounting echoes of silence are found in the Church and in America.  It is emblematic of where we are today.  People don’t really want to hear or know the truth unless it corresponds to their presuppositions or viewpoint.

Take a listen–enjoy.

It was prophetic—though in a somewhat different way than Simon meant when he wrote it in 1964.

Caiaphas, the high priest of Israel over Jesus’ “trial” unknowingly prophesied of Jesus, “that it is expedient for you [the Jews] that one man die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish” (John 11:50).

Of course it was beneficial for the world that Jesus conclude his mission and die sacrificially for the sins of the world. However that was not what Caiaphas meant.

Such was Simon’s prophetic song.

How to be a Muslim-Brought to You by the D.O.E.

Ablin252520mo252520leading252520blind252520-252520false252520prophet_thumb25255b125255ds I just posited in my most recent CrossChek post “Islam is Satan’s magnum opus of false religions.”

The creeping political correctness of the past seventy years has softened up the American cultural values so that our guiding principles are being stood on their heads.

While the upper echelons of academia are virtually totally corrupted, I am somewhat dismayed at the extent K-12 is exposed.

Exemplar of this cultural vicissitudinous degradation is the Islamic propaganda being fed our children through the public school systems in the name of tolerance.

What are these teacher thinking??

MuslimIndocSchool

The Staunton VA work sheet is especially troubling. To become a Muslim one has only to recite the Shahada. This work sheet gets the student writing it in Arabic.

Can there be anyone on this planet who think “Islam is a religion of peace” after watching the news night, after night?  I guess so.

As Blaise Pascual wrote

There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of every man which cannot be filled by any created thing, but only by God the Creator, made known through Jesus Christ.

Blindsided

Blind Sided

Islam is Satan’s magnum opus of false religions. Satan knows he has already lost the war, but he battles on to take as many down to the pit with him as he can.

One would think anyone with a modicum of common sense and intellectual integrity could not possibly be fooled by this venomous, homicidal, bloody religion; Islam. Clearly that is not the case, but why?

Let’s see what the God of the Bible has to say about why the world is so blind to false religions and Islam’s bloody dogma in particular.

Paul in his letter to the church at Corinth told them “the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving.” That seems pretty clear and straight forward. But who is this god of the world?

Paul’s full passage in this letter states:

[Since] we received mercy, we do not lose heart, but we have renounced the things hidden because of shame, not walking in craftiness or adulterating the word of God, but by the manifestation of truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.                2 Corinthians 1:1-4

This Pauline Epistle, like all epistolary writings in the Bible is written to followers of Jesus Christ.

Essentially Paul is saying that as Christians, justified by Christ, and indwelt with His Holy Spirit we no longer walk in the ways of the world. It is the Spirit which allows us to understand the truth of the Word of God–our eyes are no longer veiled.

Those who are perishing do not understand; cannot understand what the Bible teablindsidedches (v 3). Additionally verse 4 tacitly tells us that not only is the gospel message veiled, but the unbelievers minds are blinded to truth, but vulnerable to the lies of the world.

So when the god of the world; Satan, tells some of these people to strap bombs on their children to kill Jews, to execute Christians, blow up Christian Churches, rape non-Muslim women, mutilate the genitals of little girls, take six year old girls for wives–they simple follow blindly along.

Is the “Living Church of God” a Biblical Church?

lcg-1Herbert W. Armstrong founded the Worldwide Church of God from whence sprang the Living Church oflcg-governence God (LCG).  What follows is a synopsis of what LCG believes in her own words.

On LCG ‘s website their opening statement, the Official Fundamental Beliefs (OFB), proclaims:

“the Living Church of God bases its beliefs on the Holy Bible, the inspired Word of God.”

Three paragraphs later they affirm:

“the Bible is the inspired revelation from God to mankind. It is the true basis of all Church doctrine. We believe the Bible is inerrant in its original manuscripts and is the authoritative foundation for all true knowledge.

That is a solid statement–right? Hold on there is more.

Under the section Who and What is God, LCG posits:

The Father and the Son comprise the “Godhead.” There is one God. Scripture shows that God is a divine Family which began with two [italics mine], God the Father and the Word.

This is an egregious assertion against the true Godhead.  First the True God of the Bible had no beginning! Second the Bible clearly teaches that the Godhead is made up of three persons, not two.  It is made up of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Indeed there are so many nuances where LCG distorts scripture it would take a book to catalogue them all.

LCG continues by further redefining God and the Son:

The Father is the Supreme Being in the Godhead.

Matthew 28:19 plainly portrays the Triune God of the Bible.  Also in Mark 1:9-11 the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit all are present at Jesus’ “baptismal anointing.”

However the previously ignored Holy Spirit is then thrown back into the mix–sort of.

“God is Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the very essence, the mind, life and power of God. It is not a Being. The Spirit is inherent in the Father and the Son, and emanates from Them throughout the entire universe.”

While it is true God is spirit, the Holy Spirit is not the essence, the mind, life and power of God.  The Holy Spirit is an equal person of the trinity with the Father and the Son.

This graphic illustrates the biblically correct relationship of the Trinity:

the-trinity

The triangle is God; the Godhead.  Each Person of the Godhead is God, but not a part of any of the other Persons.  Yet all are one in unity as expressed by the Shema.

Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one! (Deut. 6:4; see also James 2:19).

The LCG concept of salvation is also very muddled:

“Salvation is God’s gift by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Upon repentance and baptism, God justifies us from our past sins. We then begin an ongoing process of “being saved” as we grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ. Our salvation will be complete at the resurrection. In observing the biblical Festivals and Sabbaths, we come to understand more deeply God’s plan of salvation, and the steps toward salvation that we take as Christians [italics mine].

Clearly the LCG believes there are steps to salvation.

The first statement “Salvation is God’s gift by grace through faith in Jesus Christ” is scripturally sound.  It goes downhill quickly from there–stay tuned.

“A vital step toward salvation is repentance” so states LCG’s OFB.  Then after “God calls us and brings us to repentance and we accept Christ . . . the next vital step is . . . is water baptism” (OFB).

LCG multiplies on all this by then positing that “salvation is [also] the result of the application of both God’s “law” and His “grace.”  So now we must obey the Mosaic Law to be saved?  All of this is works salvation.

Baptism is not a requirement to be saved.  Remember the promise Jesus made that the thief on the the cross next to him would be with Jesus that day in paradise (Luke 23:42-43).  There is also no “ongoing process of being saved.”  Our salvation is complete when we truly put our trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior—period!

As we saw the LCG statement above declares “salvation will be complete at the resurrection.  They don’t mean Jesus’ resurrection; rather our resurrection.

Whew!  Finally you’re saved . . . maybe.

Or not.  Rats!

Reading deeper into LCG’s OFB we discover that “Ultimate salvation for mankind comes at glorification in His Kingdom.”

As we continue to explore the OFB, it tells us that “God’s basic spiritual law is summed up in the “Ten Commandments.”  Jesus “followers . . . must obey both the letter and the “spirit” [of the law].

What happened to grace?  Now we are back under the Law?  There is certainly nothing wrong with obeying the Ten Commandments, but Christians are now under the blood of Jesus Christ.  It is His death and resurrection that paid the price for our sins, not following the spirit and letter of the Ten Commandments.

So what happens to those who die and are not saved according to LCG dogma?

The first death is the death of the body.  However in opposition to conservative biblical doctrine which teaches there is a hell and a man’s or woman’s spirit consciously exist there (Luke 16:22-24)[i], LCG teaches “total annihilation.”  As is to emphasis this the next sentence states “The second death is, in fact, total extinction . . .”

As we observe the scriptures above plainly illustrate that man is conscious eternally after death and not annihilated.  This is reiterated in v. 28 as the rich man pleads for someone to warn his five brothers.

In conclusion we will look at the Living Church of God’s distorted idea of biblical church polity.

They believe their god duo is at the top of the hierarchy.  They govern over subjects in this order  “[1] apostles, [2] prophets, [3] evangelists, [4] pastors and [5] teachers.” Again this is a total misunderstanding of scripture.  There is no such hierarchy in Scripture.  The only apostles were those named disciples that witnessed Christ crucified and Paul (Matt. 10:2-4) and they are the foundation laid by Christ for His Church.  There are no apostles after them.

So what we discover in all this is an astoundingly total lack of comprehension of the Holy Scriptures and who God is and what His attributes are.

Keep in mind this is not a comprehensive study of LCG’s misguided doctrines; rather my purpose here is to demonstrate its massive failure to interpret Bible taught doctrine correctly.

A cult is any group, claiming to be Christian, who departs from any of the major doctrines; i.e. the Trinity, Jesus crucified, Jesus as God, etc.  The Living Church of God falls into that category.

[i] Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s bosom; and the rich man also died and was buried. 23 In Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and *saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried out and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.’

A Pope for the World

Ahh yes, Pope Francis. Sure and what a grand and lovely man he is too.

How can you knock a religious leader who is on Rolling Stone? And Time can’t seem to get Pope Francis on the cover often enough.

Life, Fortune, Vanity Fair, National Geographic, but finally the BIG time–the Pope is on the cover of People magazine–the magazine for or to the celebrities!

.

All of these are sound theological publications, right? Maybe not.

Pope Francis, a Pope for the people–a religious Pope . . . but not too religious; a spiritual Pope, a man embracing all religions–“a new world Pope” as Time calls him. What’s not to like, right? He is also in there fighting for socialist causes, i.e. climate change and the environment.

All that notwithstanding the Pope, unlike Muslim leaders, gets no bow from our Muslim president (yes, small p) when he visits America–only a handshake.

Obama bows-or not

Of course Pope Francis has prayed and worshiped at the Blue Mosque himself so perhaps it really is meaningless who bows to whom and what their religious beliefs are when both are heretical.

But what is heresy, we are all the same, Christian, Protestant, Evangelical, Catholic, Methodist, Lutheran, Baptist, Presbyterian, Muslim, Hindu, Confucian, Zoroastrian–we are all going to heaven, right?

Even Ben Carson, a man I respect, in April of this year posited on Facebook, that Jews, Christians, and Muslims all worship the same God!–Really??! Carson is a good man, but his theology is wanting.

Pope Francis has also stated:

In a National Catholic Reporter article entitled Church is essential for faith; there are no ‘free agents,’ pope says. The article’s opening sentence reads, “Christians are not made in a laboratory, but in a community called the church, Pope Francis said.”

I can’t argue with that. We are commanded to be part of a local church body (1 Cor. 12:12).

However deeper into the article “Pope Francis described as ‘dangerous’ the temptation to believe that one can have ‘a personal, direct, immediate relationship with Jesus Christ without communion with and the mediation of the church (italics mine).'” This is clearly antithetical to biblical teaching. Christ, nor the apostles never taught such a thing.

Of course “the mediation of the Church” in the context of a pope and Catholic doctrine is the Catholic Church, not the Church Universal, and “Christian doctrine” is what the pope say it is.

Nevertheless God gave us His standard in the Christian Bible (not the Catholic Bible with the apocrypha). Man’s standard at the end of the day is meaningless. Now you may not chose to believe that and reject God’s free gift of eternal life with Him and that is your prerogative. But I can assure you, you are going to spend eternity somewhere, because the real you is your soul.

It is problematic too that the Pope also seems to believe God is not who God says he is. Speaking at the Pontifical Academy of Sciences the Pope proclaimed:

When we read about Creation in Genesis, we run the risk of imagining God was a magician with a magic wand able to do everything. But that is not so. He created human beings and let them develop according to the internal laws that he gave to each one so they would reach their fulfillment.

Tacitly he is saying God can create man, but he can’t keep the world going without an outside system, like evolution, to maintain it. In the Pope’s warning about imagining “God was a magician” Francis is in fact characterizing God as a magician, even as he acts as a warner. The whole thesis is a self-defeating statement. Also if one accepts the Pope’s supposition, then what do you do with the virgin birth of Jesus; what do you do with Christ’s resurrection?

But surely the most important thing in this milieu is to be relevant for today. There are no real heresies. As long as we feel good about ourselves when we walk out of our building of worship, be it cathedral, sanctuary, mosque, or the little brown church in the vale, that is what counts.

But there is the conundrum. Is all of this hoopla, this worldly religiosity; does it really bring us into a relationship with the Creator, the God of the Universe or is it all b_ _ _ s_ _t? (Four hail Mary’s and six up your’s Allah). Or is the Bible, God’s Word, true?

A.W. Tozer eloquently said:

The history of mankind will probably show that no people has ever risen above its religion, and man’s spiritual history will positively demonstrate that no religion has ever been greater that its idea of God. Worship is pure or base as the worshiper entertains high or low thoughts of God (A.W. Tozer, The Knowledge of the Holy).

In the letter to the first century Hebrew church the writer stated:

God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high (Hebrews 1:1-3).

So the Son God spoke through, Jesus Christ, who is called the Son of God by God the Father declared “I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father, but through me (John 14:6).

No the New World Order with its New World Pope is wrong–it is apostate. Catholicism has become a cult, if not an outright false religion.

How can I say that? I can say that because God said it:

But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron, . . . (1 Timothy 4:1-2).

When Muslims Burn Jews Alive

The world was outraged when ISIS burned a man in a cage, but Muslim terrorists have been burning Jews alive with little outrage and less attention.

This war, in which cars and buses are torched with families still inside, is not the work of a tiny minority of extremists. Its perpetrators have the support of the Palestinian Authority. Some have been set free from Israeli prisons through the intervention of the PA, Barack Hussein Obama and John Kerry.

Last week Inbar, a young mother of three, was burned over 15 percent of her body after a Molotov cocktail was thrown at her car in Jerusalem. Despite her injuries, she was one of the lucky ones.

Last year Ayala Shapira, an 11-year-old girl, was on the way home from math class. Her parents were driving her back to the village of El Matan (God’s Gift) when Muslim terrorists threw firebombs at their car. The bomb smashed through the window and landed on her lap setting her hair and clothes on fire.

“I just saw something burning fly at us and suddenly everything exploded,” Ayala would later say.

The 11-year-old girl reached into the fire to open her seatbelt and rolled on the ground to put out the flames, but she still suffered third-degree burns over 40 percent of her face and upper body.

Some children attacked by firebomb wielding Muslim terrorists were not so lucky.

Rachel Weiss and her three sons, Netanel, 3, Rafael, 2, and Efraim, 10 months, burned together on a passenger bus, with the young mother throwing herself over her children to try and protect them.

All four were buried together in one grave.

Two American passengers, Sandy and Dov Bloom, were also riding the bus to Jerusalem. They had left their children with their grandparents. The Molotov cocktails set them on fire. Sandy was pushed into Elisha’s spring, named after the Biblical prophet who had healed the waters, renamed Ain es-Sultan by the Muslim invaders seeking to honor their own murderous tyrant in place of the ancient prophet.

The Muslim terrorists had mixed glue and gasoline so that the burning mixture would stick to the skin of their victims. It took years of surgery for the American couple to begin the road to recovery.

Mahmoud Kharbish and Juma’a Adem, the perpetrators of the brutal attack, were freed by Israel under pressure from Obama and Kerry to bring the PLO back to the negotiating table. Along with the other freed terrorists, they were hailed as heroes by President Abbas and were eligible for monthly salaries.

The Moses family was driving on a pre-holiday shopping trip before Passover when their car was struck by a Muslim firebomb. Ofra Moses, who was five-months pregnant, wasn’t able to get her seatbelt open and burned to death. It took her 5-year-old son Tal another three months to die of his burns.

His 8-year-old sister Adi suffered severe burns as her father rolled her burning body in the sand to put out the flames. “I looked in the direction of our car and watched as my mother burned in front of my eyes,” she recalls.

She still remembers lying bandaged while her little brother screamed in pain in the next room.

Mohammad Daoud, the Muslim terrorist who did this to the family, was given two life sentences and an additional 72 years. But when the PLO demanded his release, Obama and Kerry forced Israel to comply.

Israelis who kill Muslims are considered pariahs. Muslims who burn Jews to death are glorified as heroes. And there are many such aspiring heroes, eager for a Palestinian Authority salary funded by American and European foreign aid and a “Get Out of Jail Free” card dispensed by Obama and Kerry.

Last week alone, there were over a dozen firebomb attacks. This year so far there were 102 firebomb attacks. Even the Intifada itself began when a Molotov cocktail was thrown at Israeli soldiers. Over the next four years, there were 3,600 firebomb attacks. Burning Jews to death is what Palestine is all about.

And then there are the Arson Jihad forest fires which can threaten entire neighborhoods. The latest such fire, which forced the evacuation of hundreds of people in a Jerusalem neighborhood, was traced back to two firebombs. Two earlier forest fires last month had also been traced back to firebombs.

But to the State Department, throwing firebombs at Jews is no big deal.

State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki argued that throwing a Molotov cocktail is not terrorism and offered condolences to an attacker who was shot while throwing a firebomb and then buried in a Hamas headband. The Weiss and Moses families might disagree, but few of them survived to argue their case.

And in any case, the administration isn’t listening.

An administration that contrived the release of the monsters who torched the Weiss and Moses families is not likely to consider burning Jews alive to be terrorism.

But the Muslim Arson Jihad has also targeted Jews beyond Israel’s borders.

In Montreal, Sleiman El-Merhebi and Simon Zogheib threw a firebomb through the window of a Jewish school library before Passover destroying 15,000 books. Yousef Sandouga threw a Molotov cocktail at the window of the Edmonton Beth Shalom (House of Peace) synagogue, but instead set himself on fire.

Last year, Molotov cocktails were thrown at synagogues in France, Germany and Brussels. Two years earlier, in a foreboding preview of the massacre of Jews in a Kosher deli before the Sabbath (described by Obama as zealots who “randomly shoot a bunch of folks in a deli in Paris”), another Kosher supermarket was bombed by two men in black. Last year, it was finally burned to the ground.

In New York City, a year before September 11, Muslims threw firebombs at a synagogue in the Bronx. “A bias-motivated attempt to firebomb a synagogue?” the New York Times asked. “Or a misguided message critical of Israeli policies against Palestinians?”

It is tempting to reduce Islamic terror to a response to the rebirth of Israel, as the New York Times did, but Muslims did not begin burning Jews to death in the twentieth century. The Jewish cemetery of old Oufrane in Morocco is a field of lonely broken stones. Among all the other shattered graves of their people, lie the ashes of fifty martyrs, Jews who had been burned to death for refusing to convert to Islam in 1790. In the same year that the Jews of Newport had thanked George Washington for his role in bringing about a nation “generously affording to all liberty of conscience”, Muslims were still burning Jews to death for their conscience and their faith.

The Fifty Martyrs of Ourfrane were not aberrations. The Jews of Morocco, and those of many other places, lived under a law which decreed that they could be burned to death at the word of a Muslim.

In 1875, as Alexander Graham Bell was inventing the telephone, Jews were being burned to death under Islamic law in Iran. Over a century later, Ayatollah Khomeini told his followers, “Killing is a form of mercy… sometimes a person cannot be reformed unless he is cut up and burnt… you must kill, burn and lock up those in opposition.”

Khomeini meant it literally. The origins of the Islamic Revolution of Iran lay in the Cinema Rex fire in which Islamic terrorists launched a false flag operation, locked the doors of the movie theater because of its blasphemous nature and set it on fire killing four hundred people.

This is an Islamic state of mind that has never gone away.

One of the Muslim terrorists behind the Bali bombings, which killed over 200 people in Indonesia, shouted, “Allahu Akbar” and “Burn the Jews” before his verdict was read.

Savages worship fire for its primal destructive power. Whether burning books, buildings or people, the ability to destroy is their idea of a spiritual experience. Islam swept across civilizations like a fire, burning people and libraries, destroying ideas and cultures, leaving behind slavery and despair in its wake.

The fires are burning again from Iraq to Israel. Firebombs are flying into synagogues across Europe. The great hatred of Islam burns in the hearts of a billion bigots. Death and fire follow in their wake.

But the world is only outraged when Muslims die. It is not outraged when Muslims kill. When Muslims burn Jews or massacre Christians, it shrugs and moves on. And this is also true of many Jews.
